Time off

My vacation a few weeks ago was barely a rest. Truthfully, I felt like I needed another vacation to recover!

Instead, I have personal days to use. "A weekend in the middle of the week!"

The hubs is home from hunting, so we took his truck in for the repairs. Now, we are sporting around in his little loaner car, a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. Very cute, but I won't trade my Jeep for it.

Of course, we had to do my birthday shopping. It's hard to complain in fluffy new jammies while watching "Ocean's 13" and stuffing my belly with Sara Lee Dutch Apple Pie. Kar got me a full-size mirror to check out my fat butt. Hubs, on the other hand, bought me the M&M race car (and more M&Ms), plus a new DVD player for our bedroom.

No breakfast in bed, but he did make Frank's Potatoes and served them to me while I leisurely surfed the net!

What a perfect birthday!

Orange + Black = GOLD!

We just got home from watching the Mariners take the state title!!!

I recognized plenty of 80s Mariners in the stands. And we even caught up with my sister and her family. It was so worth the trip!

It's funny, I never knew that I knew so much about football. I knew the calls, the plays and warned Kar when Scarcelli called for a time-out, "He's gonna mix it right up and get a touchdown!"

Which is EXACTLY what happened!

Rick even told me that him and his family caught the game Up North because it was broadcast live on Fox. "It was a damn good game, honey, but I didn't even see you!"

Congrats Mariners. Congrats Scarcelli. You guys took it all the way. Mariner Pride!

Heading down to Ford Field

Weather permitting, Kar and I will head down to watch the Football State Finals championship game at Ford Field tomorrow night after I get out of work.

Orange and black are where it's at!

They're not 'hosers,' they're MARINERS!

Kar and I drove up to Gaylord to watch the MC football semi-final game. Actually, we were up visiting Rick's parents Friday night and stayed at their "B&B" all weekend. Rick was hunting/campering with our nephew and the neighbor kid for Opening Weekend. They headed to Mom and Dad's in time for Sunday dinner.

I'm not big on sports, especially football, but the game was an AWESOME contest.

It didn't matter that I didn't chat with anyone but Kar. We enjoyed the energy of the fans and the cold day. We cheered and booed like native Mariners.

And we kept laughing at the Kingsford announcer, who sounded EXACTLY like the 'hosers' from "Strange Brew." Yooper Canadians!

Rick was sorry to have missed it! Especially since MC won and is now going to Ford Field. WOOHOO!!!

Call me Mrs., not Miss

How wonderful it is to know that I'm on the tail end of full-time parenting. Kar graduates in June.

It's horrifying to me that so many people my age, 36, are just BEGINNING their foray into parenting. Of course, I'm NOT recommending everyone becoming a parent at 19, either.

My hair, especially around my face, has sped up in the greying process in the past few years. Maybe it's time to start dying it back, but with a kid applying to colleges, I like my "mature" look. I'm a woman, not a girl. I'm a Mrs., not a Miss.

Most important, I've earned each grey hair!

Scratch off Frankenmuth

I'm trying to find time before Thanksgiving to put up my fake Christmas tree. My glass ornies are calling to be shown off, displayed in all their shiny glory.

Seems like I'm busier while on vacation! UGH!

Just the way it goes. Still have to decide on the lights color scheme. At least Kar's yearly ornie has been bought. It's a small step, but always in the right direction.

Great AND smart!

Most everyone describes Kar as "a great kid."

Sure, I've always known it. She's MY great kid.

Now, she's in NHS. That makes her my smart kid, too!

Just 51 days til Christmas!

It's time to pick up the pace of making my Christmas gifts.

Quite a few women will be receiving pretty bracelet and necklace sets. Guys will get the gift bag: movie, treats and booze.

I'm thinking about creating a few "Edible Arrangements," too. Maybe make tins of festive cookies and chocolate candies.

One good friend will be receiving another hand-created edition of Painted Ladies of my hometown. I am putting together recipe books for another friend and Kar.

A few years ago, I found a little dollhouse-sized china cabinet and bought 20 little mugs with my inlaw's first names on them. Glued them on and gave it to my mother-in-law, who asked for another, so she has one at work AND home!

That's when you KNOW something is a hit. When it's asked for AGAIN!

Senior pics

Senior pics are being distributed.

Kar adores the ones I took of her in Chicago.

The grandparents are so happy now!
