A mini vacation, a maxi success!

Kar and I spent the past few days in Chicago. I took a week-long vacation, and it was important that we do something special for her last real summer vacation.

We didn't drive, we took the train.

We stayed a block off the Mag Mile. I mailed our postcards courtesy of R2D2.

With no car, we walked EVERYWHERE! To the Lincoln Park Zoo, the The Art Institute of Chicago, Millenium Park and up and down the Mile. Kar even let me take her pic with Elvis at the Hershey store.

We ate at Hard Rock Chicago, Burrito Beach and the "Rock and Roll" McDonalds. We shopped in Trader Joe's and Navy Pier. We saw the REAL Marshall Fields (now Macy) building.

We snickered every time we walked by the Trump International building site. Had to get a pic for Rick!

We laughed about "Marina City." Giggled like crazy over the guys eating lunch in the middle of the street. I snapped potential senior pics of Kar at the gardens of the NBC building late at night.

Because of her begging, we saw "Wicked" at the Oriental Theatre. It was a great play! We had to hurry up and go shopping because the theatre is a dressy affair, not like going to the movie multiplex!

She fell in love with Chicago and knows that public transportation is plenty good for her! That's my city gal!
