Define LOSER

because my pic isn't next to Webster's definition!

Going to the reunion was interesting. Seemed like very few people wanted to talk about their jobs or family, etc. No names. It wasn't even due to Facebook!

Reunions ARE supposed to be about catching up, right?

New Age mumbo-jumbo...bring your own incense!

I'm not a fan of the whole SOULMATES theology.

The whole concept creeps me out. I'm a realist, not a romantic. It works for Rick and I, which is all that's important.

Dinner by candlelight? I'd prefer my dinner by BBQ. Flowers and boxes of expensive candy? I prefer a garden with fresh broccoli and sweet snap-peas.

Rick knows I love him because I help him put on his socks and lay out his work uniform. Sunday mornings, he gets the remote so he can watch his hunting channels.

We are far from SOULMATES. But considering everything, I'm more than willing to call him my guardian angel!

Decisions, decisions...

Still trying to figure out where to go on my vacation week next month. Then, I have another in November.

Karina and I have been to Chicago and Vegas in the last 2 years. She won't be along now, she'll be away at college.

My thoughts have been DC and Atlanta for September, but Lisa just started at a new company, so she probably won't be able to get the time off like we'd planned. Maybe no on Atlanta. Should I substitute NYC instead?

Arizona in November? Or Seattle to see my nephew?

Or, maybe I'll just relax in November. Take a few day trips. Get ready for Christmas. Spend a few days in HL with Rick's mom. THAT sounds like a plan!

20-year reunion done!

Talked to lots of people, but still never enough.

Great to see everyone again!

Was I my brother's Grim Reaper?

My heart goes out to the family of Natasha Richardson. And all the families faced with the life support catch-22.

Making the decision and watching it carried it out were the worst things in my entire life. Knowing there will never be another moment with my brother. Another word. Another heartbeat. So many unanswered questions.

Watching the numbers go down. The organs fail. It is an eyes-wide-open nightmare.

A part of me died with my brother, a part I never knew existed. He will always be my older brother who died too young.

GIRLZ weekend

It was a 5.5 hour trip for Jana and me, including dinner, potty breaks and fuel fill-up, to visit Kimberly in Alliance, OH. I hadn't been on the Ohio turnpike since July, 2000!

A few highlights:
Morgan Castle - this is a neat sight in a town of historical homes
Sebring's historical homes - lots of ohlala mansions, including one that is nearly a block long (aptly named the Sebring house and spa)
Hartville flea market - included live banjo musical and lots of goodies to buy, like really cheap sheet sets!

Kimberly's home is brick, with 3 floors, including a walk-out finished basement. She has almost all antique furniture. I slept in The Boy Room, decorated in blue for a little boy. Jana had The Girl Room in pink and white. Her room also had gorgeous front windows!

Kimberly's home is built old-style and has TONS of charm and character. Lots of built-ins and original detail left. Her front door is a thick, dark wood with a rounded top. She and her other 1/2 love to restore it and the antiques they pick up.

But it's hard to beat their modern basement, done in OHIO BUCKEYE! EVERYWHERE! Including the wall-to-wall carpeting! Riles most Michiganders. I just laughed.

12 years ago today...

You will always be remembered, Nina. More importantly, you will always be loved.
